Dalam tulisan ini saya menggunakan sistem operasi windows xp dan perlu diperhatikan jika komputer Anda tersebut memiliki user account maka Anda harus login sebagai Administrator. Dalam trik ini kita memblokir facebook dengan mengoptimalkan salah satu file dari windows, tepatnya beralamat di driveC:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, untuk lebih jelas ikuti langkah-langkah berikut:
- Buka explorer windows Anda, lalu buka folder dalam folderC:\windows\system32\drivers\etc.
- Dalam folder etc tersebut ada beberapa file, cari file hosts dan buka dengan programnotepad. (caranya klik kanan file tersebut lalu Open atau Open With, Notepad. Setelah membuka file hosts tersebut, Anda bisa melihat isinya seperti berikut (warna merah):

# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host127.0.0.1 localhost - Setelah itu Anda tambahkan kode berikut (warna biru) tepat dibawah kode diatas.

0.0.0.0 69.63.176.140 - Langkah terakhir simpan file (CTRL+S), coba buka facebook dari browser dan jika masih bisa dibuka, restart komputer Anda.
Sebenarnya trik ini bisa juga digunakan untuk memblokir situs-situs lain, twitter misalnya atau apa saja situs yang ingin Anda blokir pada sebuah komputer, tinggal ditambahkan saja pada bagian akhir file tersebut.
